History: After years of bookmobile service, the Summers County Public Library finally opened its doors in a rented building in Hinton in 1977. Five years later, a local citizen purchased an old bank building and donated it to the Summers County Library Board. The old 1920s structure was renovated and dedicated as the new Summers County Public Library in 1984. The library now serves 14,000 residents in Hinton and Summers County.
