History: Part of the Raleigh County Library system, the Shady Spring Public Library was established in 1984 as the Stralie Walker Branch, and renamed in 2000 as the Shady Springs Public Library. Along with the main library in Beckley and the county's other branch in Sophia, the county library system serves nearly 80,000 residents in Raleigh County.
