History: The Nitro Public Library is uniquely owned and operated by the city of Nitro, and is not a part of the Kanawha County Library System. Begun in 1964, the library’s first home was a portable frame building, and it moved to its present location in the 1970s. The library serves 5,300 residents in the city of Nitro.
