History: Shinnston’s public library is housed in the home of one of the town’s most famous families. The Lowe family built the home in the 1870s, and the family’s last survivor, Pearl Lowe, willed the house to the Women’s Club of Shinnston in 1970. Three years later, the Lowe Public Library opened to the public. It now serves 2,300 residents in Harrison County.
