History: The roots of the Hardy County Public Library were planted in 1927 when the Moorefield Women’s Club began library services in a private home. The library moved to its current location in 1952, and later received national recognition in a Ladies Home Journal article, “Library on a Shoestring” in 1960. In 2018 a 1.4-million-dollar renovation was completed. The library serves more than 12,000 residents in Moorefield and Hardy County.
