History: Prior to 1967, the Gassaway Women’s Club sponsored a lending library in the Gassaway Community Building. In 1967, that library became affiliated with the state library commission, which helped the city construct a new Instant Library in 1974. 25 years later, the library moved to its current location in the former Bank of Gassaway building. The Gassaway Public Library serves nearly 5,500 residents in Braxton County.
