History: The Bridgeport Public Library was established in 1956 with a donation from the Michael Benedum family. The City of Bridgeport took over financial support in the mid-70’s and located the library on the top floor of the Benedum Civic Center. The library moved to a new facility in 1993 and to its current location in 1994. The Library now serves over 7,300 residents in Harrison County.
