History: The Princeton Public Library was established in 1914 by the Princeton Women’s Club in a small three room house in the center of town. During the 1930’s, the library was moved to the basement of the Memorial building. After a fire in that building, residents began looking for a new home, and in 1968, the library moved to a new building located on Center Street. That structure served the community until 2010, when once again, services outgrew the facility. A four year fund raising project culminated in the opening of the New Princeton Library in the Old Princeton Post Office on August 28, 2010. The building has more than doubled the space of the previous location, and serves as the community center for the residents of Mercer County. The Princeton Public Library now serves 12,600 residents in Princeton and Mercer County.
